On Debian-based systems (e.g. Ubuntu) this can be done via the following command:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"\">sudo apt install openssh-server<\/pre>\n<p>On RedHat-based systems the command is as follows:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"\">sudo yum install openssh-server<\/pre>\n<p>You can verify that the SSH server is running by running &#8220;ssh localhost&#8221; on the Linux side. If it asks for the key\/password, the server is active:<a href=\"https:\/\/visualgdb.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/01-get.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7996\" src=\"https:\/\/visualgdb.com\/w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/01-get.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"804\" height=\"719\" \/><\/a>If the server is not running, you can manually start it by running &#8220;sudo service sshd start&#8221; or &#8220;sudo systemctl start sshd&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>If the server is running, but you are not able to connect to it, double-check the host name and IP address used by the Linux machine.
